The Clash have been confirmed as the latest recipients of the Nordoff-Robbins Silver Clef Award, and will be honoured when this year’s ceremony takes place at the Hilton in London on Friday (June 28th).

Previous big-names winners of the charity event’s main prize include The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Oasis, Pink Floyd, Queen and Sir Paul McCartney amongst many others.

“The Clash’s music has just as much influence today as it did when they first came onto the music scene in 1976,” David Munns, chairman of Nordoff-Robbins, remarks.

“It is no wonder London Calling has been described as one of the most influential rock albums of all time. Having been enormously influential in the UK music scene for over 35 years, I can think of no band more deserving of this award than The Clash.”

“Nordoff Robbins do great work and it feels special to be recognised at the O2 Silver Clef Awards,” The Clash’s Mick Jones adds.
