The Charlatans have unveiled a Sleaford Mods remix of their Different Days album track Plastic Machinery.
“Within five minutes of hearing Sleaford Mods a couple of years ago, I was messaging them asking if they would come and play at a festival where I had a stage,” Tim Burgess has said.
“They played and blew everyone away. I kept thinking as we made the album that I’d love to hear a remix. It’s everything I was hoping for and more.”
The remix further emphasises a theme of collaboration on their latest record, with guests on there including Johnny Marr and New Order. “After Jon (Brookes) died we decided not to replace him on drums so the first port of call is always Pete Salisbury, who plays with us live, so he was our first guest,” Burgess told BBC 6Music.
“And then as we started to write more and more songs it became apparent that we’d like to ask Stephen Morris to play with us, so Stephen ended up playing on seven songs, and Gillian from New Order also played on one.”
