The Band’s self-titled second album gets anniversary re-release

There’s another classic, sixties-era album getting a 50th anniversary reissue later this year.

It’s The Band‘s self-titled second studio LP which has been been updated and expanded for re-release on November 15th, including including super deluxe box-set format containing a hardbound book, CDs, 180-gram 2LP black vinyl and limited edition 180-gram 2LP ‘tiger’s eye’ color vinyl packages.

“The idea was to take you deeper inside the music, but this album is homemade,” Robbie Robertson writes in the liner notes of the remastering process. “You can’t touch up a painting. It has nothing to do with what you get when you go into a recording studio.”

“We’re just trying to overcome the original technological limitations in order to bring you closer into the room,” producer Bob Clearmountain explained to him.

“I’m going to do everything in my power not to get in the way of this music at all.”
