A 50th anniversary edition of The Band‘s classic debut album Music From Big Pink has been given a release date of August 31st.

Borne out of prolific sessions which also brought the world Bob Dylan’s Basement Tapes, Music From Big Pink saw Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson gather back together in West Saugerties, New York as The Band after Helm had swiftly fled the electric controversy of Dylan’s mid-sixties touring.

It will be released in a newly remixed and expanded form on various formats, all in a stereo mix produced by Bob Clearmountain from the original four-track analog masters.
