The Avalanches have nailed down their first studio album in 16 years for release next month.
Last heard leading a charge at the beginning of this century with their utterly bonkers single ‘Frontier Psychiatrist‘, the Australians have now added the ‘Wildflower‘ LP to the various tour dates whose announcements have been gradually bringing about their return recently.
“What kept us going during the making this record was a belief in the day-to-day experience of music as a life force – as life energy,” Robbie Chater said in a statement.
“Hearing a certain song on a certain morning can change your day; it can make the world look different, changing the way you perceive light refracting through the atmosphere for the rest of the afternoon. Literally changing the colour and feeling-tone of your world.”
Lead single ‘Frankie Sinatra‘ features vocals from Danny Brown and MF Doom, while more guest appearances are expected from the likes of Father John Misty, Toro y Moi and Mercury Rev‘s Jonathan Donahue.
