Lorde, St Vincent, Joan Jett and Sonic Youth‘s Kim Gordon joined Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear onstage at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony last night (April 10th).

After being officially accepted into the Hall Of Fame by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, the surviving Nirvana members performed ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit‘ with Joan Jett, ‘Aneurysm‘ with Kim Gordon, ‘Lithium‘ with St Vincent and finally ‘All Apologies‘ with Lorde.

Also inducted last night were Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt, while Bruce Springsteen‘s E Street Band were honoured with the award for Musical Excellence. In addition, Beatles manager Brian Epstein and Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham were presented with the Ahmet Ertegun Award For Non-Performers.

The ceremony took place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and, with artists and bands only becoming eligible for the Hall Of Fame 25 years after their first release, saw Nirvana being recognised at pretty much the earliest opportunity.
