Simon Neil expects next Biffy Clyro album to be released late next year

Simon Neil has slapped an intended release date of late next year on Biffy Clyro‘s next studio album.

The follow-up to last year’s double album ‘Opposites‘ – which handed the band their first UK number one in January 2013 – is though still in the tentative early stages, and Neil told NME at the MTV European Music Awards that they are conscious of taking some time away from the public eye after a busy 2014.

“We’re getting the next album together,” he said. “Realistically it won’t be out until the end of next year. We’re working on the songs now, but we don’t want to rush it – we’ve been in everyone’s faces for the last couple of years, so I think it’s important to disappear for a wee while and then come back all guns blazing.”

Neil will be back sooner however with his embryonic solo side-project ZZC, which he’s said has ‘seven or eight songs’ ready for release ‘while we’re making the Biffy record’.
