Not content with thirteen covers which made up their ‘Classics‘ album earlier this month, She & Him have now put their own spin on The Beach Boys‘ ‘God Only Knows‘ which can be heard below.
M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel reworked tracks from the likes of Dusty Springfield, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby for ‘Classics’, as explained by Deschanel in a statement:
“We are incredibly excited to release a record of our favorite songs,” she said. “It was a dream of ours to record these songs in a way that highlighted the brilliance of the songwriting and the beauty of their melodies. We had a wonderful time making the record and we hope people have a wonderful time listening to it.”
‘God Only Knows’ is in vogue at the moment having been used by the BBC to launch a new series of music programmes and initiatives with the help of Dave Grohl, Brian May, Jake Bugg and plenty more.
