Sam Fender was playing a special one-night-only concert in aid of North East Homeless, a charity helping those most vulnerable in the region.

After recent UK and European tour dates saw Sam Fender sell-out gigs across the country and beyond, including Newcastle’s very own Utilita Arena, he was back on home-turf last night for a first-ever show at City Hall.

The lucky ticket holders who had entered a charity ballot were treated to a hour-and-a-half set encompassing Fender’s hits such as Getting Started and Get You Down, and a raucous performance of B-side Howden Aldi Death Queue.

The gig culminated in an encore performance of this month’s Ivor Novellos winner Seventeen Going Under, as well as Hypersonic Missiles supported by Newcastle United’s very own ‘Wor Flags’ waving the city’s famous black and white colours all around the venue.
