Ronnie Wood talks ‘bluesy’ new Rolling Stones music at exhibition opening

Ronnie Wood was talking about the ‘bluesy’ new music being recording by The Rolling Stones as the band reflected on their long career at the opening of an exhibition in London yesterday (April 4th).

“They really sound authentic,” Wood said of the material. “We went in to cut some new songs, which we did. But we got on a blues streak. We cut 11 blues in two days. When we heard them back after not hearing them for a couple of months, we were, ‘Who’s that?’. ‘It’s you’. It sounded so authentic.”

Keith Richards was the driving force behind getting the Stones back into the studio for most of last year with a view to recording their first studio album since 2005’s ‘A Bigger Bang‘. Two singles were released in 2012 to mark their 50th anniversary and return to touring through shows in London, New York and New Jersey.
