The Muffs‘ singer Kim Shattuck, who replaced Kim Deal on bass in the Pixies earlier this year, has apparently departed the group just a short time after they wrapped up a spate of live UK shows.

Although 2013 has signalled an escalation in activity for the Pixies after their reunion a decade ago, Kim Deal’s decision to walkaway was confirmed in the summer as the band prepared to finally release some new material in the form of ‘EP 1‘.

“We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies,” a statement read. “We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best.”

And it now appears Shattuck has quickly followed Kim Deal out of the exit door; taking to her social networks over the weekend to express her ‘disappointment’ at the news, she wrote: “Disappointed to learn that my time w/Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Focusing attn on Muffs & new album. All the best to everyone.”

The Pixies are expected to release more new material next year, and will headline the Field Day festival in June 2014 and have just been announced for Primavera Sound.
