Isn’t it always the way with rock stars? Here’s Alex Turner and Miles Kane, back in New York City, thousands of miles away from the celebrations and number one chart success of their second Last Shadow Puppets album in the UK.

Not that they are likely to notice; both have called the States their adopted home during recent years, and a packed to the rafters Webster Hall last night (April 11th) will have felt as much like a heartfelt welcoming party as any Sheffield or Liverpool street bash.

The aforementioned ‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect‘ informed a 90-minute set performed with a smile and a swagger from Miles and, to his left, the modern day Dean Martin stage presence of Alex – minus only cigarettes and Martinis.

An encore included the always amazing Beatles cover ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)‘ and Turner shouting, ‘Happy New Year, New York!’. He might have been somewhat late with those wishes, but it certainly sounded heartfelt, just like the ovation from a crowd which made the gig a true celebration afterall.
