Pete Townshend hopes to work with Roger Daltrey again after The Who ends

Pete Townshend hopes to reconvene with Roger Daltrey in a different guise once The Who comes to an end later this year.

After 50 years pioneering the rebellious, boundary pushing – and ear splitting – side of rock and roll, the two surviving members can now see the finishing line of both The Who and a farewell world tour.

But Townshend has told Mojo he hopes a new collaboration in the future, free from the constrains of history, could happen.

“When this tour is over, we’ll probably both go our separate ways. So it’s to demonstrate that even this particular gang can grow old – not necessarily gracefully, but can grow old ungracefully, or whatever it is that we’re doing.”

“I think Roger and I will do odd things together. I hope that one day I can write him an album of songs that suit him and the record company won’t demand that we call it the fucking Who, but I’ve got a bad feeling about it.”

The Who headline Glastonbury this weekend, returning to Worthy Farm for the first time since 2007. They’ll be immediately supported by Paul Weller.
