It’ll be released by Paul Simon on May 19th.
Paul Simon has announced his new album Seven Psalms.
The first collection of new material from the songwriting legend since 2016’s Stranger To Stranger, it’s a continuous 33-minute piece of music woven through seven interlinked segments.
This record is to more immediately follow In The Blue Light, on which ten select cuts from Simon’s back catalogue were reimagined in the midst of his 2018 farewell tour of North America.
“It’s an unusual occurrence for an artist to have the opportunity to revisit earlier works and re-think them; to modify, even completely change parts of the originals,” he said of it.
Happily, this opportunity also gave me the gift of playing with an extraordinary group of musicians, most of whom I hadn’t recorded with before. I hope the listener will find these new versions of old songs refreshed, like a new coat of paint on the walls of an old family home.
