Sir Paul McCartney made an appearance in London last night (May 15th) to introduce the BAFTA presentation of his new Wings live DVD ‘Rockshow‘.
The film captures McCartney’s post-Beatles band live in the United States in 1976 at the height of the travelling band’s success as they spent most of the decade on the road.
“This is a film of the ’76 concert that we did with Wings in America, and I think the best thing about it for me was that we’d been struggling for years with Wings getting slagged off by all the reviewers because we decided to do it from the ground up again instead of coming in at some higher level as superstars,” McCartney told those present.
“So we had to learn our craft all over again and we thought that by the time we reached 1976 and America on this tour that we were pretty good.”
In all, the Wings are captured performing 30 tracks, delving into their own back catalogue as well as solo material and some Beatles favourites. It will be released in June.
