Paul McCartney has remembered Henry McCullough as ‘super talented’ after the guitarist died yesterday morning at the age of 72.
McCullough was with Sir Paul in Wings during a time in the seventies, touring with the band and recording notable hits such as ‘My Love‘ and the Bond theme ‘Live and Let Die‘.
“I was very sad to hear that Henry McCullough, our great Wings guitarist, passed away today,” McCartney has said in a statement. “He was a pleasure to work with, a super-talented musician with a lovely sense of humour.”
“The solo he played on ‘My Love’ was a classic that he made up on the spot in front of a live orchestra. Our deepest sympathies from my family to his.”
McCullough was a fixture of the British rock scene in the sixties and seventies, playing with Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and others. He was at Woodstock too with Joe Cocker.
