Bonehead had recently been confirmed as full-time touring member of Liam Gallagher’s band.

Oasis founding member Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has revealed he will be undergoing treatment for tonsil cancer and is thus taking a step back from music.

“Just to let you all know I’m going to be taking a break from playing for a while,” his tweet reads. “I’ve been diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is it’s treatable and I’ll be starting a course of treatment soon.”

“I’ll keep you posted how it’s going, I’m gutted to be missing the gigs with Liam and the band. Have the best summer and enjoy the gigs if you’re going, I’ll see you soon.”

It was in Bonehead’s front room where Liam Gallagher first auditioned to join his band Rain, and he remained a vital, irreplaceable presence  through to his departure from Oasis in 1999.

Everyone at Live4ever wishes him all the best during his treatment.
