Organisers of Australia and New Zealand’s travelling Big Day Out festival have confirmed the event will not take place next year, but have insisted they intend on bringing it back in the future.
“C3 Presents is proud to own Big Day Out, one of the most iconic and established festival brands in the world,” a spokesperson for the promoters, who have assumed control from AJ Maddah, told Faster Louder.
“While we intend to bring back the festival in future years, we can confirm there will not be a Big Day Out in 2015. We love working on BDO and are excited about the future.”
Pearl Jam and Arcade Fire topped the Big Day Out bill at the start of this year, but more noteworthy was the late withdrawal of Blur, whose frontman Damon Albarn criticised organisers for ‘constantly shifting the goalposts’.
Instead, refunds were offered to fans after Deftones, Beady Eye and The Hives were brought in as replacements.
