Noel Gallagher will be the first guest when Russell Brand makes his return to live UK radio this weekend.
The comedian is joining Radio X from Sunday, April 2nd and has ‘asked Noel nicely’ to be a part of the maiden broadcast. “Last time you and I spoke mate on this radio show, you instructed me to start this radio show, I think you even allocated the time slot,” Brand went on as the announcement was made on Chris Moyles’ breakfast show.
“That’s the kind of power you have on the airwaves and I have accepted it.”
It was on Brand’s unmissable BB6 6Music show, now over ten years ago, that his friendship with Gallagher was struck up thanks to what started off as impromptu phone-calls to the former Oasis star. By the time the show had migrated over to BBC Radio 2, Gallagher was essentially a co-presenter before it all came crashing down, in his absence, after the infamous Andrew Sachs phone messaging tabloid ‘scandal’.
