Noel Gallagher and Ozzy Osbourne have joined a host of musicians in sharing their earliest musical memories in support of the Hope And Homes For Children charity’s End The Silence campaign.
“I would have been six or seven years old sitting watching Top of the Pops,” Gallagher remembers of Slade’s Cum On Feel The Noize.
“It was a major thing in British culture, a Thursday night, you get paid on the Friday, you buy the seven inch to dance to on the Saturday, it’s perfect. Reminds me of where Oasis got their sound from, pretty much.”
Ozzy Osbourne, meanwhile, chose She Loves You by The Beatles. “That song changed my life, had such an impact on me,” he says. “When that song came on, I knew from then on what I wanted to do with my life.”
The charity is aiming to raise £1.5m by Christmas to be donated towards helping 120,000 children in Ugandan and Rwandan orphanages find families. Get involved at www.endthesilence.com.
