Noel Gallagher opened his latest solo UK arena tour in Glasgow last night (April 21st) by paying tribute to Prince, whose death had been confirmed just hours earlier.

With the SSE Hyrdo venue decked out in purple lighting, Gallagher entered the stage to the strains of ‘Let’s Go Crazy‘, and then invited the crowd to sing through the Oasis classic ‘Live Forever‘ in his memory.

“So, I was in a band once. We had an album called ‘Standing On The Shoulder(s) Of Giants’, and one of those giants was Prince,” he told the crowd, reports the Daily Record.

“So you’re going to help me pay tribute to the great man and help me do ‘Live Forever’.”

Otherwise, the set stuck close to that which has served Gallagher during most of his ‘Chasing Yesterday‘ touring, with more Oasis classics like ‘Champagne Supernova‘ and ‘Wonderwall‘ in there along side new favourites from his High Flying Birds era.
