Brand new singles from The Murder Capital and The Lathums were among last week’s biggest headlines.

There was nearly four years – a veritable life-time in music these days – between The Murder Capital‘s debut album and their 2023 follow-up Gigi’s Recovery, but now they’re back already with a brand new single ahead of a big European tour which is booked for October and November.

“Dublin is the backdrop, we were the always changing cast of characters, Heart In The Hole is an injection of humanity into the void that’s created in excess. Reminding ourselves to laugh at the mania, question the motives and, maybe most importantly, stick around to see what happens next.”

The tour is to conclude in the UK and Ireland, including a date at the new Project House venue in Leeds on November 8th.

U2 have been at Sound City to record a brand new song which is being released to mark the start of the band’s Las Vegas residency.

The innovative Sphere venue opened last Friday night, and Atomic City might well be a part of the set after its premiere with a video directed by Ben Kutchins.

“U2 hasn’t played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again,” the band have said of the Vegas gigs.

Holly Humberstone has announced a European tour ahead of the release of Paint My Bedroom Black.

Humberstone will take her debut album instore next month before heading out on a full tour of Europe during the first part of next year, beginning in Paris on February 13th.

The UK shows are booked in Edinburgh, Manchester, Lincoln, Leicester, London and Bristol, while the tour is set to close in Dublin on March 16th.

The Lathums have returned with their brand new single Thoughts Of A Child.

“We’ve all been told before that we, for some reason, aren’t good enough,” Alex Moore said. “We don’t look a certain way or our interests are futile and unachievable.”

“Then, one day, something or someone just turns your world the right way up. A partner, friend, a community. Maybe a new job, or is it the sun choosing to shine on you? An angel sent to your underserving hands that just makes everything feel right again with the happiness and purity we feel when we are children. For some reason we lose it along the way. But together we can find it again.”

Pulp will end their comeback year and ring in the new one by headlining Edinburgh’s 2023 Hogmanay event.

The band will be at West Princes Street Garden on the occasion of the event’s 30th anniversary after a reunion tour this summer which included a gig at Finsbury Park in London:

“Elsewhere, following the End Of The Line Remix of the song, This Is Hardcore sees Jarvis slouching in a brown leather chair beneath a chandelier before descending the lit-up staircase seedily to accompany their magnum opus while he later reminds us of guitar skills, playing the riff of arms-aloft anthem Babies,” our review reads.

After some time off following the relentless touring of their debut album The Overload, Yard Act are starting to fill their diaries up once again and have announced a lengthy European tour for the spring of next year.

It’ll include the band’s biggest London show to-date at the Eventim Apollo, and is also due to visit Dublin for a gig at Vicar Street on March 20th, 2024.

The tour news continues Yard Act’s return in the wake of the release of the standalone single Trench Coat Museum back in the summer.
