Live4ever’s recap of the main stories we featured during the past seven days includes exciting tour updates for fans of Pulp and Adele.
Jarvis Cocker has confirmed Pulp will return for a second reunion in 2023, according to reports.
Speaking at a Q&A last week, Cocker is widely reported as responding to question about a recent Instagram post by revealing:
“It was deliberately cryptic. It’s a line from This Is Hardcore. Next year Pulp are going to play some concerts.”
Rina Sawayama has shared the title-track of her new album Hold The Girl whilst confirming the details of a US tour during November.
“Hold the Girl was the first song I wrote for the record at the end of 2020,” Sawayama said. “I had gone to therapy and had a revelation, so I decided to write this song. That was the start of it. I was crying before going into the studio to write about it.”
The US tour, meanwhile, will open in Brooklyn at the Great Hall (Avant Gardner).
Wet Leg, Yard Act and Little Simz are among the shortlisted artists for this year’s Mercury Prize.
“It’s been just over a year since our first gig and we are all still in shock at where this journey has taken us,” Wet Leg responded.
“When we started the band, we never really thought we’d get the opportunity to make any recordings at all, let alone a whole album…and now to have that album nominated for a Mercury has left us absolutely lost for words.”
Adele has announced the rescheduled dates for her Las Vegas residency which was postponed to much publicity in January 2022.
“Words can’t explain how ecstatic I am to finally be able to announce these rescheduled shows,” a social media post reads. “I truly was heartbroken to have to cancel them.”
“But after what feels like an eternity of figuring out logistics for the show that I really want to deliver, and knowing it can happen, I’m more excited than ever! Now I know for some of you it was a horrible decision on my part, and I will always be sorry for that.”
Happy Mondays have arranged a Tart Tart EP release to remember their bass player Paul Ryder who died suddenly earlier this month.
Two previously unreleased live versions have been added to the Squirrel And G-Man… single – a 1989 John Peel Session and one live from Sheffield University the same year.
“This special release of Tart Tart showcases the unique musical talent of our brother Paul Ryder who passed from this world,” Shaun Ryder says. “We will all miss you Horse. He brought the funk and the rock n roll to Happy Mondays.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers are getting all they can out of John Frusicante’s return to the fold and will put out their second studio album of 2022 on October 14th.
“We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been,” the band said on announcing Return Of The Dream Canteen.
“Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way.”
