New music from IDLES and a landmark gig for The Reytons were among last week’s biggest headlines.

IDLES have teased the release of a new track entitled Dancer.

It’s available to pre-save now and was previewed as the band were set to reissue their modern classic second studio album Joy As An Act Of Resistance on its fifth anniversary last Friday, October 6th.

We spoke to the band when it was named our Album Of The Year in 2018, summing them up as the year’s ‘heroes’.

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have set their latest record The Silver Cord for release on October 27th.

If you’re managing to keep up, this is King Gizzard trying their hand at electronic music, the LP split into two parts which will see the more traditional structures of part one transformed into something very different on two.

“The first version’s really condensed, trimming all the fat, and on the second version, that first song Theia is 20 minutes long,” Stu MacKenzie has explained.

William Doyle has returned with his new single Surrender Yourself.

“To ‘Surrender Yourself’ at first may seem like a call to liberation – to surrender yourself to the present moment, to the unpredictability of life, to loosen your grip on the reins of your existence and enter a flow state,” he’s said.

“But read it again and the threat and menace of the phrase becomes apparent – You are surrounded. We have you exactly where we want you. There’s no way out. Surrender Yourself!”

The independent word-of-mouth success story enjoyed by The Reytons this past year or so will be cemented on July 6th, 2024 when they play the 20,000 capacity Clifton Park in Rotherham.

With the follow-up to the band’s UK number one album What’s Rock And Roll? due on January 19th next year and a tour of the UK ongoing, the big outdoor concert was to go on sale from October 6th at 10am UK time.

Let Me Breathe, the lead single from Ballad Of A Bystander, is online now.

Gruff Rhys will add the 25th album to the various facets of his recording career when he releases Sadness Sets Me Free on January 26th next year.

“Celestial Candyfloss is an attempted pocket symphony about the cosmic lengths that people will travel in the pursuit of love and acceptance,” he’s said of the lead single.

“Mark James has brought the Sadness Sets Me Free album cover to life & managed to place me watching TV interference in a shipping container that’s lost in space.”

The View have added some extra dates to their upcoming UK tour.

The November/December run is now set to end with two nights at Caird Hall in Dundee, while there’ll also be a gig in Wrexham at The Rocking Chair on November 11th.

The run is due to open in Nottingham on November 2nd and will be in Leeds on the 24th of that month.
