A new album from Dexys and more UK tour dates for Two Door Cinema Club were some of the biggest headlines we featured last week.
Dexys have set their new album The Feminine Divine for July 28th.
First single I’m Going To Get Free is about, ‘optimistically breaking free from internalised trauma, depression and guilt’, according to Kevin Rowland who is currently settled in this incarnation of the band with Jim Paterson – now a non-touring member – Sean Read and Mike Timothy.
“It’s always just natural with me. The inspiration comes first, I think about what I can do, what songs I’ve got, then approach the band.”
Albert Hammond Jr has announced his new solo album Melodies On Hiatus.
The Strokes guitarist has invited GoldLink on to the lead single 100-99, highlighting its debt to 90’s hip-hop in the process.
“I grew up listening to 90s hip-hop, and I would always gravitate towards the melodic hooks in the songs I heard on the radio, specifically anything Dr. Dre was producing or rapping on,” he’s said.
Careful Of Your Keepers, the new album from This Is The Kit, has been confirmed for release on June 9th.
The video for first single Inside Outside is online now, while bandleader Kate Stables has said: “The album was nearly called Goodbye Bite. And in a way it still is.”
“I went for Careful of Your Keepers in the end. It’s one of my favourite songs on the album, a song that for me holds the general feeling of the album as a whole. The fragility of things. Of situations. Of relationships. Of humans. What we do to look after each other and ourselves. The passing of time and what that does to us, and how we live our lives going forward.”
Two Door Cinema Club have added some more UK dates to their 2023 live plans.
Slotting into the summer schedule are gigs in Keele, Wolverhampton, London, Manchester and Scarborough – now part of an already packed diary which will next take in three nights at The Telegraph Building in Belfast.
Also booked for the summer are appearances at the Sounds Of The City and Truck festivals.
Dermot Kennedy has been unveiled as the final headliner for this year’s All Points East festival at Victoria Park in London.
Joining Kennedy on the bill Olivia Dean, SG Lewis, AURORA, James Vincent McMorrow, Nick Mulvey and more. “I remember playing the main stage at All Points East back in 2019 just before my debut album came out,” he’s said.
It’s surreal to me how much has happened over the past 4 years since then and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me on this journey. This headline show is going to be on another level and I’m honoured to be headlining this year alongside legendary artists The Strokes, HAIM, Stormzy and Jungle. See you in Victoria Park!
Porridge Radio have arranged the release of a limited 7″ version of their 7 Seconds single for Record Store Day 2023.
A video has also been premiered for the track which originally fell in-between the band’s Every Bad and Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder To The Sky albums, taken from their time on the road.
“Touring is a huge blur of places and people and time and intense emotions and we wanted to share that energy,” Dana Margolin has said.
