The New Order gig will take place on Saturday, August 24th.

New Order have announced an outdoor concert at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester for the summer of 2024.

After the space was launched as a live venue by Noel Gallagher earlier this year, another local favourite, Johnny Marr, has also been confirmed on the bill, as has Roisin Murphy.

The news comes with Marr heading into next year looking back on a decade of his solo career; “Sequenced non-chronologically, the evolution is palpable,” our review of the Spirit Power compilation reads.

The Messenger, the track which announced his solo career, seems comparatively basic now, all distracted synths and robust rhythms. Similarly the comforting, wistful melancholy of New Town Velocity and the glam-pop stomp of Upstarts didn’t especially break the mould (though both still sound great) but European Me, despite the jangling arpeggio, had a surprising melody which indicated envelopes were being pushed. Logically, he started from his comfort zone and pushed out.
