New Music Friday has brought Girl Ray‘s third studio album Prestige, which was co-produced by Poppy Hankin with Ben H. Allen and was first unveiled back in April with the lead single Hold Tight.
“Lyrically this song is about how appreciative I am to have found my partner, and how my mental load feels so much lighter and easier to bear now that I’m with her,” Hankin said of it.
The production on this takes some inspiration from Haim’s incredible record ‘Women in Music Pt. III’, and features a subby drum loop inspired by Atlanta’s hip hop scene.
The band will now start some in-stores at Rough Trade East in London today, and have a full tour of the UK coming up towards the end of the year.
