New Kasabian Album Due In October

kasabian3 awh 01Kasabian will release the follow up to ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum‘ in October, according to a record label spokesperson.

The Sony/BMG insider told thisisleicester.co.uk of the October release, and also revealed the new album is currently being mixed, but refused to go into any further details.

“They’re still working on it,” she said. “Although it’s nearly finished. They’re mixing it. I can’t tell you who’s producing it – it’s secret – and I can’t even give you a clue about what it sounds like because we haven’t heard it.”

Meanwhile, guitarist and songwriter Serge Pizzorno described the record as ‘epic’, adding that the album will incorporate elements from each of their previous three releases.

“Well, it’s epic,” he said. “It’s big songs that make you feel like anything’s possible. It’s a really positive record. I suppose it’s a combination of all three records but we’ve just taken it a bit further.”

‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’ represented a huge leap forward for Kasabian after their largely disappointing second album ‘Empire‘, and delivered the headline billing which the Leicester band had always seemed destined for.

The album went on to receive a Mercury Music Prize nomination in 2009, but missed out to that year’s surprise winner Speech Debelle.
