Morrissey will undertake a residency at New York’s Lunt Fontanne Theater after completing his first tour of Canada in nearly two decades the previous month.

He’ll play seven shows at the venue in total, starting on May 2nd just a few days after the Canadian tour and ending on the 11th. Morrissey confirmed the details of his visit to Canada after ending a boycott of the country last year stating that his ‘protest against its savage and Neanderthal annual Baby Seal Kill…was ultimately of no use and helped no one’:

“My voice was drowned out by the merciless swing of spiked axes crushing the heads of babies. On my return to Canada I feel that I can be of more use by making sizeable donations to animal protection groups in each city that I play.”

The release of Morrissey’s new covers album California Son, meanwhile, has been set for May 24th.
