More names have been confirmed for the Meldown Festival, which this year is being curated by Robert Smith.

Adding to the likes of My Bloody Valentine, The Libertines, Mogwai, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones and the Manic Street Preachers are a host of new additions including Death Cab For Cutie, Frightened Rabbit, The Joy Formidable, Moon Duo and The Twilight Sad, whom Smith has previously covered and handpicked to support The Cure.

Speaking to BBC 6Music upon this announcement, Smith said: “I’ve been aware of Meltdown for a long time, and probably the first time I was aware of it was when John Peel did it in the late nineties.”

“And I’ve been to quite a few Meltdown shows over the years. Probably the most memorable for me was seeing Bowie in, I think, 2002 playing the Low album, and that was so inspiring, and in fact it led me on to doing the Trilogy project which I did with The Cure.”
