Three headliners for Glastonbury 2015 have already been signed up according to chief organiser Michael Eavis, who has given himself another six years at the helm before retirement.
Speaking at the event’s annual press conference yesterday morning (June 29th), Eavis said of his future: “Myself, I think I can run another six years, which would take me up to about 50 years, and then see what happens after that.”
Eavis also revealed the line-up for next year is fast taking shape, with one headliner even being booked during Metallica‘s Pyramid Stage performance on Saturday.
“We’ve got three headliners already – and that’s without Prince,” he said. “We’ve got some good headliners. We had an agent yesterday on the platform by the stage watching Metallica with me saying, ‘My band want to do it next year’. I can’t tell you who it was but that was done on the platform watching Metallica. Is it a British artist? He’s definitely British, but the band are not British any more.”
Despite a less than complimentary slant on Glastonbury last week, Iron Maiden have been installed as very early favourites to headline the Pyramid Stage in 2015 at odds of 7/1. Next up is Kate Bush at 8/1, who at one point was a strong tip to perform this year. A reformation for Oasis is also at 8/1, while 10/1 odds can be found on the band’s guitarist Noel Gallagher going it alone, and U2 making a return.
