Marika Hackman and Richard Hawley have joined the leg of this year’s Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre which is being curated by Elbow frontman Guy Garvey.

Marika Hackman will open for the previously announced Laura Marling, while Richard Hawley headlines his own show on June 16th.

“I’ve not overthought it,” Garvey said when revealing the initial bill last month. “I’ve put together a bill I’d love to see and I’ve made sure there’s something for everyone. All time greats that have never been far from the cutting edge, to brand new talent worthy of more attention and some reunions I never thought I’d see.”

“There’s plenty more still to announce but currently, alongside the music, we’ve got poetry and a ton of interactive events, and there is an overarching theme – boats.”

Others acts playing Meltdown for 2016 include Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant, Connan Mockasin, The Staves and another favourite of Garvey, I Am Kloot.
