The death of Leonard Cohen has been announced, he was 82.
One of the most revered songwriters, lyricists and poets of the 20th century, Cohen’s passing was confirmed in a short Facebook post which reads; “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.”
His son Adam has told Rolling Stone his father died peacefully at home, “with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest records.”
Cohen released the fourteenth and ultimately last studio album of his career, You Want It Darker, just last month and told the New Yorker that he had made peace with his end, quoted as saying: “I am ready to die. I hope it’s not too uncomfortable. That’s about it for me.”
