Johnny Marr live at the Electric Ballroom, London (Alessandro Gianferrara for Live4ever)
Johnny Marr tickets go on general sale from October 17th.
“It’s going to be a special one,” Johnny Marr has said when announcing the biggest headline gig of his solo career at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester on July 9th.
It’s part of the venue’s latest Sounds Of The City calendar, and Everything Everything have been confirmed as the day’s main support.
The show is Marr’s first for next year with his last solo record remaining 2022’s Fever Dreams Pts 1–4.
“We know him to be an optimistic man – this is his musical embodiment – but it doesn’t start so, his distorted voice only appearing one minute in as a simple but driving bass carries us towards him,” Live4ever’s review reads.
Known primarily as a guitarist (and obviously the guitaring is superb throughout if relatively sparse, but that’s priced in), little attention is paid to Marr’s lyrics, but there are multiple examples of his development across the album.
