James Bay was in Glasgow last night, May 11th.
Now back out on the road for a UK tour which will continue in Aberdeen tonight, James Bay was one of those many artists still able to get new music out into the world during lockdown.
Chew On My Heart emerged during some of the earliest months of the pandemic, the single proving to be the first taste of sessions in Nashville which, two years on, will finally result in the release of his Leap album this July.
“It’s sort of unexpected,” Bay said of the track. “Chew On My Heart stuck out as a lyric. It’s a metaphor for wanting and craving more than the norm. It’s not your typical relationship tune in terms of content or delivery.”
“We can have more. Let’s not just go through the motions. The verses are a devotion. The chorus is a question. A relationship can’t be all give and take; there has to be compromise, conversation, and ideas to move life along.”
