Iron Maiden record voted ‘best British album of the last 60 years’


Iron Maiden The Number Of The BeastIron Maiden‘s third studio album ‘The Number Of The Beast‘ has been voted as ‘the greatest British album of the last 60 years’ by a HMV poll conducted to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The 1982 record polled almost 10% of all votes cast, beating Depeche Mode‘s ‘Violator‘ and The Beatles‘ ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band‘ into second and third place respectively.




The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road‘, ‘Revolver‘ and ‘White Album‘ also make the top 10, while Adele‘s big-selling ‘21‘ is the most recent release to place in the top 10, coming in at #9.
