Guy Garvey has let us know what to expect from the new Elbow album.

Confirmed for February 3rd next year, it’s their first without drummer Richard Jupp and is going to be a ‘beat heavy’ affair according to the frontman while in conversation with Jo Whiley.

“It’s really quite chunky and beat heavy,” he said (via NME). “There’s a sparseness to the songs which perhaps we’re not known for. The themes are ranging as always; great big themes and concerns for the world at the same time as falling in love, looking forwards and backwards and all of the things.”

“It’s been really fun. It’s been quite fast actually. We only started it in January.”

Elbow will embark on what they’re calling their ‘most extensive tour since 2008’ shortly after the LP’s release, taking in multiple-night stops across the UK and Ireland, ending with gigs at the Manchester Apollo on March 18th, 19th and 20th.
