Revolver has joined the list of expansive re-releases from The Beatles on this New Music Friday.
New stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes are on there along with the always superior original mono mix, but as with all these Fab Four reissues it’s the crystal-clear clarity of the outtakes and alternative versions which will really keep fans happy.
Here some notable highlights include the skeletal evolution of Tomorrow Never Knows; the immediate jump in calibre when we get to the second version of And Your Bird Can Sing; the classic B-side Rain seemingly playing at 100mph at its actual speed; an impressive, punchier take of For No One and the introspective original vision which John Lennon first presented to the band for Yellow Submarine.
