Franz Ferdinand unveil new line-up as North American tour begins

Franz Ferdinand have unveiled their new line-up following the departure of guitarist Nick McCarthy last year.

Two new members have officially come on board as a North American tour gets underway, with Dino Bardot, formerly of 1990s, and electronic producer Julian Corrie filling the void left by McCarthy.

Upon leaving, Franz Ferdinand explained the reasons in a statement which read: “When we record or tour, it takes a long, full-time commitment lasting a minimum of a year and a half, most of which is spent away from home. Nick has a young family and does not want to be away from them for such a long period.”

While McCarthy, who soon after launched Manuela with his wife Manuela Gernede, added:

“I’d really like to thank all the fans for being such an inspiration over the years. What an amazing time it has been.”

“I’m going to concentrate on production and writing some completely different things for a bit and we can all look forward to hearing the new Franz Ferdinand album.”

Franz Ferdinand are in Nashville for a gig tonight and now remain on tour sporadically through to the end of the summer.
