Florence Welch to perform with The Rolling Stones tomorrow?

florenceandthemachineFlorence Welch of Florence & The Machine is set to be one of the special guests of The Rolling Stones when the band performs their second 50th anniversary gig in London tomorrow (November 29th).

According to today’s Mirror newspaper, Florence will join the Stones to provide the iconic female vocals on ‘Gimme Shelter‘ – a task which was taken up by Mary J. Blige during the first O2 Arena concert last weekend.

“Mary J Blige did the female vocal part for the first show which blew the crowd away,” a ‘source’ has told the tabloid. “But Florence is determined to raise the bar even higher. It will be an incredible moment. Eric is also taking part at some point, which will be historic too.”

In addition, the paper claims Eric Clapton will be onstage during the show, after Jeff Beck provided guitar for ‘I’m Going Down‘ on Sunday. Ex-members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor also briefly rejoined their former group for performances of ‘Honky Tonk Women‘ and ‘It’s Only Rock n Roll (But I Like It)‘ respectively.
