The initial round of tickets to have been put onsale for Glastonbury 2014 have already sold out.
For the first time, the event offered 15,000 special ticket and coach packages ahead of the general sale which begins on Sunday (October 6th), and announced on Twitter yesterday that they had been snapped up in double quick time.
“The 15,000 coach + ticket packages have now sold out,” the tweet reads. “The remaining 120,000 Glastonbury 2014 tickets go on sale on Sunday morning at 9am.”
Co-organiser Michael Eavis told NME at the AIM Independent Music Awards in early September that the three headline acts for next year were close to being secured, and had never played at Worthy Farm before.
“Next year’s headliners are more or less in place,” he said. “They’re three bands who haven’t played Glastonbury, and that’s important. There aren’t many bands left who haven’t played the festival, and before we run out I’d like to persuade the ones on my wish list to come down. I think I’ve managed that with these three.”
Fleetwood Mac are considered a strong favourite to top the Pyramid Stage next June, while The Stone Roses are also being tipped to finally make their own bow at the festival after cancelling in 1995.
