Father John Misty has released an alternative take of his recent ‘I Love You, Honeybear album’s title-track for Record Store Day.

Under the new guise ‘I Loved You, Honeybee‘, the track was backed with the unreleased b-side ‘I’ve Never Been a Woman‘ on a heart-shaped 7″ single, limited to 5,700 copies. “On first listen, ‘I Love You, Honeybear’ sounds like a corny ode to Disney-inspired romance,” our album review starts.
“Father John Misty’s voice is full of feeling as he sings over music that alternates between being idyllically soulful to operatically dramatic. And the album’s title certainly doesn’t help. Its allusion to sugar-coated fluff only adds pink to the apparent dream, when in fact its message is the opposite.”
