Elbow’s Guy Garvey to enlist ‘famous mates’ for solo project

Guy Garvey apparently ‘fancies being the boss for a bit’ and will thus look to start work on his first solo album once Elbow‘s live summer work is done with.

Garvey outlined his plans for the solo project during a chat with XFM at last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival, and will be thumbing through his address book looking for ‘famous mates’ who might want to get involved.

“I’m going into the studio to work on a weird side project,” he said. “I’m gonna write a load of stuff and then invite famous mates to come and play on it. I don’t even know if I’m gonna sing them, I just know I’m going to write the words and invite the people.”

“I’m almost certainly going to try and get Jimi Goodwin on bass because, well, he’s the second best bass player in the country after Pete. It might be a complete disaster, but it’ll be fun finding out.”

Elbow are about to move on to T In The Park where they’ll headline the Radio One stage on July 12th.
