Editors have put an electronic twist on their Violence album for Record Store Day.

The band will put out The Blanck Mass Sessions on April 13th as a limited edition colour vinyl before giving it a general release on May 3rd.

The Blanck Mass sessions go back to 2017 when Editors were in the early stages of recording Violence. Searching for an alternative look at their tapes, they invited Benjamin John Power, aka Blanck Mass, to take them way off in his own direction before asking producer Leo Abrahams to bring everything someway back to the middle ground. “When we initially approached Ben to work with us on Violence we gave him free reign to do whatever he wanted,” frontman Tom Smith further explains.

“It seemed stupid to try and instill any boundaries or direction to him as he has such a singular, authored sound to everything he puts his hand to. So we left him to it. The results of that process being this release. A very visceral version of our album Violence.”
