Ed Sheeran has been confirmed as the third and final headliner for this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Sheeran broke the news Instagram, describing his booking as ‘awesome’ as he joins Radiohead and Foo Fighters at the summit of the Pyramid Stage.

Despite starting off as an outside bet when the annual scramble for tickets began last year, Sheeran had since become a hot favourite to continue Glastonbury’s recent more pop-orientated leanings, and had betting suspended on him by bookmakers Ladbrokes last November after some significant increased interest, Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes commenting at the time: “It looks like Ed’s cameo in the latest Bridget Jones film was the clue all along.”

“Punters have piled into his odds at a rate of knots and we’re left with no option but to close the betting for the time being.”
