The death of Richard Swift – producer and former member of The Black Keys and The Shins – has been announced. He was 41.

The sad news was revealed on Swift’s Facebook page with a short message that read, ‘And all the angels sing “Que Sera Sera”, Richard Ochoa Swift, March 16, 1977 – July 3, 2018’, and comes after it was revealed Swift had been hospitalised last month with what was described as a ‘life-threatening condition’.

Dan Auerbach, who worked with Swift as part of The Black Keys and The Arcs, has led the tributes on social media, writing:

“Today the world lost one of the most talented musicians I know. He’s now with his Mom and Sister. I will miss you my friend.”

Among the many others leaving messages was Norwegian singer Sondre Lerche, who said: “A sad day in the world of music: the sudden passing of Richard Swift. Great producer, instrumental to so many strong artists, but also a wonderful songwriter himself.”
