There’s been a spate of George Harrison tributes announced recently; the late Beatles legend’s first six solo albums have been brought together and released today (September 22nd), while there’s also a special concert in the works which is due to take place at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on September 28th with Brian Wilson, The Killers, The Strokes and plenty more invited.
Now, US chat show host Conan O’Brien has revealed that he will pay homage to the music of Harrison all this week to help promote the ‘George Harrison: The Apple Years’ compilation.
George’s son Dhani, Beck and Norah Jones have been confirmed to perform covers. More will join up in due course.
It’s Dhani who’s the main driving force behind the restoration of his father’s ‘Wonderwall Music‘, ‘Electric Sound‘, ‘All Things Must Pass‘ , ‘Living In The Material World‘, ‘Dark Horse‘ and ‘Extra Texture (Read All About It)‘ albums.
“Some of these records have long been out of print, and so I cannot wait for music lovers to get their hands on these newly remastered versions,” he’s said. “It’s a very proud moment for us, and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us in any way to achieve this.”
