Coldplay‘s latest single ‘Paradise‘ is set to be the first UK number one single of 2012, according to midweek figures.
The track has been flirting with the top spot in recent weeks following the band’s appearance on the live final of X Factor earlier this month, and is now on course for the summit, standing currently just ahead of Olly Murs.
On the UK Album Chart, Ed Sheeran‘s ‘+‘ is ahead of Coldplay’s own ‘Mylo Xyloto‘, while Adele‘s ‘21‘ looks ready to begin 2012 in the same way it has spent most of 2011 – comfortably entrenched in the top 10.
The first charts of 2012 will be confirmed on New Year’s Day.

Get real. “they give white rockers a bad name”? What are you some sort disturbing music snob racist? Your music taste is probably stuck in the 70s or Britpop 90s no doubt. Backwards idiot.
