If noise complaints and curfew restrictions don’t get in the way of a brand new series of events at Hyde Park, the Kaiser Chiefs and Bush will be there to get the crowds going for US headliner Bon Jovi come July 5th. Barclay British Summer Time is a 10 day long event spread across two weekends from June 28 to July 7th. Other bands confirmed for the July 5th concert are The Futureheads , Rival Sons, Little Barrie and Charlie Simpson, the NME reports.
Promoters Live Nation lost the 5 year contract to host the gigs at the park in central London to AEG Live last year . The Royal parks reportedly had put unreasonable financial expectations upon them after the noise complaints and broken curfews.
The Great Oak Stage will be moved away from neighbouring residential areas, which organisers hope will bring down sound levels by 3db. Last summer rock legends Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney both had their shows shortened and fans complained about low volume levels at Blur’s August gig due to sound regulations imposed in the interest of local residents. To further prevent problems the number of people who could attend events at the park were cut from 80,000 to 65,000 – and, in some cases, to 50,000.
Bon Jovi actually chose to play Hyde Park over Hard Rock Calling. “We were offered to open the Olympic venue but I wanted to play Hyde Park,” Jon explained.
