The latest track from Sad Planets – the new collaboration between old friends Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney and John Petkovic – has been unveiled.

“It’s a tale of low-rent chivalry set in a dive bar,” Petkovic, who also directed the the video for Yesterday Girls, has explained. “A guy walks in, gets insulted and starts fighting. A girl walks away, unimpressed with it all. And twelve pool sticks were broken in the process.”

Petkovic and Carney are casting both a loving and critical eye on Akron, Ohio – their shared hometown from which the album, due for release on April 19th – takes its title. “We had never played with one another and just decided to get together to create music, for fun, without expectations,” Petkovic said. “It’s the purest way to make music.”

“When Patrick asked if I wanted to come to Akron to jam with him in the studio, I saw it as a chance to work with a longtime friend, but also an opportunity to reconnect with Akron in a very different way.”
